Go to conversation detail and hover your mouse over conversation settings which is located in the upper right of the screen and click on Archive. Or you may use the shortcut by pressing the A on your keyboard.

A confirmation dialog box will be displayed, you can now click the Archive button which is the final step!

To make conversation active again, all you need to do is send a new message.
